My Favorite Store
So today I did not do anything special, all I did was straighten up my room, go to my favorite store, and go to the hosptial to visit an old acquaintance/classmate. Because of time we havent seen each other in two years. If you can please pray for her I will appreciate it, on thursday she was hit by a train, no one knows how she got hit by a train but she did. She has a broken pelvic and a collapsed lung, so please keep her and her family in your prayers. We have alot to be thankful for.

I think I have the flu, which really sucks. I should of gotten the shot when my mother told me to, but I never get sick until now. My joints are killing me, head spinning. Currently where do you live??
-New York City, specifically the Bronx
-There are definitely instances when I come up with funky ways to style my hair or put things together. But I get so inspired by old movies, re-runs of the shows like A Different World..people I see on the street..NYC is especially inspiring. Everyone tries to stake their claim in fashion and produce a style of their own, so it is definitely interesting to watch and admire..or edit in my head.
I love A Different World, who do you think had the best style on the show??
-I love Freddie's quirky style. She was a urban hippie, I loved that. And I adore Denise from her character on The Cosby Show. They looked like they would shop at vintage spots, smoke cloves and be vegetarians--really eccentric. I admired Whitley but her style was too stuffy, too southern bell for my taste.
Lol, I completely agree especially about Whitley. So do you vintage shop?? or do you prefer department stores??
-I buy things here and there at vintage shops, definitely not a big vintage shopper. It's so expensive here. You have to go to some small vintage shop in Ohio or Pennsylvania to get good cheap finds. There is one shop here, Beacon's Closet, that me and one of my girls' are trying to hit up.
Other than an occassional vintage dress or accessory, I shop at Urban Outfitters and H&M a lot. I also find great things at French Connection and Zara. I'm not a big fan of Forever 21, but whenever I go in I usually find something really cute and quality. They have 100% silk pieces and their jeans are on point!
When you walk into a store, what do you look for the most: shoes, accessories, bags or a cute piece like a top or sweater??
-Good question. I seriously look at everything though. That's why I have seriously cut down my shopping in the last year and only shop when I feel like I'm missing something!
But when I do shop my eyes are wide open. I'm at the accessories sections looking at scarves and bags and jewelry. ecclectic prints and ethnic prints on clothes catch my eye. Things that look vintage but aren't--love that.
I like to take my time and browse, try on a bunch of stuff, even if I think I won't get it.. Then I end up only getting what I love. I actually just went into H&M on 34th street on Monday and their cropped sweaters, dark floral prints and simple high waisted wide leg jeans caught my eye.
Most people, and I am one, believes that accessories makes an outfit. Do you think this is true??
-I definitely think it's important to accessorize an outfit. An otherwise plain and boring tee looks dope with a big intricate chain, for example. I am in love with scarves and I make jewelry, called Odd& Even, NYC. So I pile on bracelets and charms and I wear rings on my thumb and index fingers--I feel naked without my jewelry and my watch!
And for a tip, if you want to change the mood of your outfit, change your accessories. Whethere it's your shoes or your earrings--those small changes make a difference for the overall look.

-I started designing last November and ended up making necklaces for a couple of my friends for christmas. My family and other friends bought pieces but I stopped designing for a bit--too busy uninspired...Until the spring when I got really creative with sewing chains onto bows that I made and mixing metals--that's when I really developed a style.
I have a inspiration board that I refer to when my creative juices aren't focused. Just pictures of girls that I would want to where my jewelry. Lily Allen is actually on there. Her run was so short but I like her dynamic style--girlie and street.
My jewelry is definitely for a fashion foward girl or guy. Someone who's funky and doesn't take fashion too seriously. My pieces are perfect to layer with other pieces because most of my pendants are just brass, cowrie shells or coins and the necklaces are long or short and draped.
I have a few pieces on etsy at oddandeven.etsy.com and a lot of my pieces as well as a couple shows that I've been featured in can all be viewed at myspace.com/oddandeven.
-$20-$40. the less intricate, the less costly. My coin rings are all hand wrapped in wire and my fabric pieces, like the bow bracelet is hand sewn. Those pieces are closer to the 40 dollar mark.
Besides your Odd & Even, NYC line, what do you do for a living??
-I wish I had a simple answer to that. I assist the regional visual manager of French Connection. I'm also the fashion writer for 'Sup Magazine, a UK based music magazine. And I'm excited that I'll begin a positon as a reading tutor at a Harlem charter school for 6-8 graders. My living is an amalgamation of sorts, I guess.
-Of course I do! I take friends with me to events I go to...we go out for drinks...random light shopping like a peek into Urban or popping into random vintage shops. I definitely make time for fun and chill moments with friends or else I get crazy.
Lol, what kind of events do you attend??
-I go to performances. Like the mickey factz and cool kids performance in the spring. I got to magazine events like the trace black girls rule issue release party. Fashion shows like bk fashion weekend and ny fashion week. Opening nights for exhibitions are fun and interesting too. I love to mingle and take pics of stylish ppl at the events I go to also. It gets the word out about my blog because I give my card to everyone I photograph and gives me shots to put on my blog.
-I actually bought a couple of vintage blouses which I'm excited about--solid color silk vintage blouses are staples that I'm trying to build now. I also want to get a new pair of boots--some mid length suede fringe boots would be perfect to pair with my long knit cardigans, plaid tops, printed scarves and knits hats! I also love to layer. A dress, cardigan belted with tights and boots. Or jeans with a funky top sandals and socks...can't wait!
Ohhh I am definitely feeling your wardrobe, kind of sounds like mine. But anywho is there anything you would like the readers to know about you && what you do??
-Well I defintely gave you a run down of what I do...other than that I'm just working hard to stake my claim in the fashion world and I hope that I can inspire people and gain friends on the way.

Monday Morning Words
Good morning well today is Monday, November the 17th and it is now 10:30 in the morning... Well I have just risen not too long ago and I must say it feels damn good. Whatever I write today is to make you think, that is my only intention.
As I rise in the morning and catch a glimpse of the world outside
I turn around and look in the mirror

Samantha Ronson thoughts on PETA
There is a fine line that distinguishes the difference between exercising our freedom of expression and offending others, for example the debate regarding freedom of speech vs. hate speech.... i feel that this principle should apply to protestors also. It's a pity that some groups feel the need to assault people as opposed to fighting with words.
Whenever I feel the need to vent about something that feels unfair to me I reach for my computer, I don't run out of the house with abusive intentions. I don't expect everyone to react the same way, but I do expect people to respect each other. Maybe that's my first mistake? It seems lately I am learning that there are too many people who put another species before their fellow man and that's sad. I don't wear fur, but I don't think I have the right to ATTACK those who do. No one has that right.
PETA should focus their efforts on educating people on what they believe are injustices instead of seeking press via harassing those in the limelight. I received an apology too many days late from the PETA folks (the blog removal was too little too late) and today I'm pissed at the bag of flour thrown on Lindsay last night. Not because I got powdered down, but because the girl who threw it acted like an animal herself. I take that back, it's an insult to animals to group her in with them, my dog is FAR more civilized than that person. I would have more respect for them if they didn't use other people to get their point across. Lindsay, Mary Kate, Ashley Olsen, Anna Wintour and the rest of the targeted celebrities aren't the problem, I'm pretty sure they're not the only ones wearing fur, in fact, they should be appreciated by PETA for giving them a target. If it weren't for them, who would get them press?????
I know I'm probably going to get a lot of angry emails in response, but I don't really care. I got enough last week for no reason so I'm more than happy to ignore the nastiness after seeing what I saw last night. I'm not about to throw on a fur coat in retaliation, but had I had one within reach, I'm not sure I would have walked away from it.
p.s. when was the last time you saw an animal attack one of its own in defense of a human? hmmmmm..... that's one to grow on!
p.s.s. i think there are plenty of families that could have used that flour for a meal. nice job, lady.
My thoughts: I think the people involved with PETA has every right to believe in what they believe in and I personally would never wear fur, but they do have a habit of crossing lines. Samantha Ronson has every right to blog about how she feels, and people have a right to respond to it whatever way the feel. And one of the guys was like how he is so happy because we made history and that he is a part of history.
